Ms. Liz Kay Second Grade Teacher

Welcome to Lackland Elementary School and to second grade, Room 303. This is my 12th year at Lackland out of 22 years of total teaching experience. I am a native of San Antonio. I started out as a Dietitian with a BS degree in Nutrition from Texas Tech University. To become an educator I attended Graduate classes at Southwest TX State University in San Marcos (now called Texas State University). I obtained my certificate in 7th and 8th grade Science and Elementary Ed. My student teaching experience was at Schertz/Cibolo Universal City ISD in Schertz, TX. As soon as I finished my student teaching there I was offered a job there to teach 7th and 8th grade Science for five years. The next four years I taught 6th grade Science and Social Studies in McKinney, Tx - just north of Dallas, TX. I came back to live in my hometown of San Antonio to teach 6th grade Science and Social studies for 2 more years before coming to Lackland the following year to teach 6th grade Science, Social Studies and 6th grade SFA Reading. I have taught 6th grade here at Lackland for six years prior to coming to teach 2nd grade. This is my seventh year teaching 2nd grade. I look forward to teaching students in the formative years of their education.
